The Tide Was Coming In
The tide was coming in, Ralph was in a maze of thoughts he needed to think, he was ovdercome with astonishment. It must not be fun, but to put things straight , he turned to the chief's seat, frowning. Grass was worn away, it was thick, the darkness of the island was firghtening. The mood was foreign, he had to adjust his values, step by step, with the sun in his eyes, he took the conch. the transparency, the affection. We need an assembly, not for fun, not for laughing, but for business. He licked his lips, murmur assented, People drink from the river, there are huts, shelters. The murmur died, he cleared his throat, laughter arose. Your hunters, Jack stood up they started with the fear talk. Beasts! We've got to make smoke, or die! keep the fire going. I've got the conch, things arebreaking up he looked beyond them, they creeped into his eyes. Fear can't hurt you, there are no beasts, you cry babies! Fear and beasts, be frightened. We eat pig, piggy! Pig! simon looked sternly, lamentation rose, Loud and sustained.
