In literature, as in life, a character may search for a better way of life. One of these people is Walter Lee Younger. He is trying to invest on a liquor store, but he needs some of the money that Mama got. Walter hopes to gain money from the liquor store he is trying to invest on, he hopes to gain a better life for himself and his family. He is attempting to bring a change by investing on a liquor store.He tries to make a change because he says: "I want to invest on a liquor store!"

She tries to search for a better life by making money to pay for her schooling of becoming a doctor. She hopes to gain knowledge, money and a graduation certificate to becoming a doctor. She attempts to make a better life by asking Mama for some of the money to pay for the school.
