Jack's Run

Jack's run by Roland Smith follows the progress of a teenage boy named Jack Osborne. While he is living in L.A. with his sister and his parents in Atlanta, Georgia. Jack and his sister Joanne is captured by an old enemy of theirs, Alonzo Aznar and his crew. They are then transferred to Mendoza, Argentina. Their parents Neil and Patricia are desperate to get their kids, they then fly down to Argentina with a former SEAL to make an attempt at getting their kids back. This book would appeal to young teens who are interested in action, adventure and some serious suspense.

Jack Osborne is not only a great athlete and a muscular guy, he is also very smart and uses a lot common sense, this makes it easier for his parents and the former SEAL to find them because of his clever but yet epic escapes with his sister from Alonzo. He constantly fights for an attempt to escape in the following excerpt:" A man grabbed jack as soon as he stepped through the door of the house. He gave the man a headbutt to the nose and drove him up against the wall."

The author gives support for loyalty and trust for friends and even family throughout the story.
The theme flows well throughout the story. The author's opinions are enclosed and are the ones that young teens that read this great book need to realize and learn from.

Jack's Run introduces the conlict and problem in chapter 13, which is where the whole story starts to build up a lot of suspense. In the beginning of his move to L.A. him and his sister are then transferred to Argentina to be held captives. Jack is not only a captive in the underground facility, he is also used as a punching bag. The suspense intensifies as Jack and Joanne escapes their underground facility and try to make it onto a plane that will take them back to L.A.

Roland Smith, who also wrote Jack's Lie, for young adults and teens leveled books, Roland Smith was born in 1951 and started writing on an old typewriter that he had gotten on his fifth birthday, and that is how he started making novels that are fiction and non-fiction. He was working at a zoo later in his life and studied biology. He also wrote some other fantastic books like: Sea Otter Rescue, Journey of the Red Wolf, Thunder Cave, Jaguar and Sasquatch.

I enjoyed this book very much becasue it kept me reading for along time and I didn't want to put it away and it just really brought me in to Jack's life and I felt like I was Jack sometimes with porblems like his and I always thought: what would I do if I was in a situation like that? I really liked the unique but epic way that he tried to escape from his enemies. This book will definently draw reader's attention at the ages 13-15 years-old and readers who love to read a book that has a lot of suspense and action and adventure. This book will make teens who don't like reading that much want to read more.
